I discovered just how effective Covonia was for coughs a few years ago and wish I had discovered it sooner. There are different types of cough syrups – Original Bronchial Balsam, Chesty Coughs, Dry Tickly Coughs and Night Time Formula which is the one I tried. I find it so irritating when I cannot get to sleep because I am coughing away and the Night Time Formula is not only effective at suppressing that tickly cough, but it is relaxing too. I am not a driver and I have used this cough medicine in the day time and I have not felt so groggy that I could not function but it did make me feel rather relaxed. Incidentally, I have never got addicted to this! It does not taste particularly pleasant but a spoonful of it is not so bad and it really does work quickly and rather like magic to suppress my cough.

I do not know how it works but it does work. This is fantastic if you are going to be in a situation where you really do not want to cough like at a wedding or something. Coughing is the body’s natural way of expelling harmful substances in the lungs so it is advisable to expectorate regularly even though you are not bothered by the coughing, but this is a very useful medicine and the Night Time Formula does really help me get a good night’s sleep when I am suffering. This is quite pricey at £4.54 for a 300ml bottle from Tesco which is a cheap supermarket, but as it works so well it is worth every penny. The effects are long lasting too.
